AGRO is a professional organization, apolitical, established at national level, which brings together based on their free consent employees of agricultural companies, institutes and research stations, food companies, tobacco farmers, and persons exercising a profession or a independently profession. It was founded in 1990 and has over 38,000 members, which included more than 150 trade unions from all branches of agriculture (crop field, poultry farming, viticulture, horticulture, manufacturers and farmers' unions, etc). AGRO promote and defend the interests of the members from affiliated organizations, organize visit and meetings with national and transnational partners for exchanging experience and implementing of new technology in agro-food sector. Also implements projects and activities in order to develop human resources in rural areas, specifically to improve rural residents ability to integrate on the labour market. In this respect, AGRO has initiated training projects in a number of areas useful for anyone who wants to develop the ability to inquire on the labor market, such as English and information and communication technology, as well as training regarding entrepreneurial initiatives. At the same time, AGRO gives attention to the need of qualification / re-qualification of its beneficiaries in jobs required in the labour market and, consequently, is developing projects focused on trades training programs in question.

CARBGROWTH project aims to maximise European greenhouse horticulture production, optimising water resources by using low quality water from wells and aquaculture for irrigation purposes and ensure that final products commit with European quality standards.


Aquaculture typically is practiced in coastal waters or on land whenever regular crops are not being raised. Scientists are worried about some of the disrupting consequences of aquaculture on local environments.


Intensive agriculture under plastic has allowed converting apparently unproductive lands with such mild climate conditions into modern agriculture exploitations that can source for the population food requirements.
